For our third workshop of the semester we synthesized our very own slime! We used borax, glue, and water as the base while adding different materials to create our own unique versions of this classic experiment. The borax holds the polymer chains of the slime together, making it stretchy and fun to play with. Some students chose to make glow-in-the-dark slime while others added shaving cream to create fluffy slime. Our secret Slime ingredient was the thermochromatic powder. This special substance changes color with heat and friction, allowing the slime to actually change color! This was a classic workshop and many of the Longfellow mentees enjoyed the challenges and added twists that went with this workshop.
